In the early 1970’s, in the city of Miguel Alemán, was the beginning of the manufacturing company for cement blocks. Mr. Rogelio Hinojosa Barrera, with the strong support of his father Don Raul Hinojosa Garcia, started their company focusing on the sale of construction materials, offering block, cement, steel rods, hardware and plumbing.
Starting mainly under the name ‘Hinojosa Materiales’ and with the support of his wife Mrs. Asteria Garcia de Hinojosa, they succeeded in entering the trade in the Rio Grande Valley. After a successful time, and a needed factory expansion, was the beginning of Ferro Block, which was still located in Mexico.
Due to the high quality of its product, demand from the United States was growing and three new locations were opened in South Texas in Mission, Donna, and the main location in Alton. The growth of Ferro Block was due to the fact that the whole Hinojosa family came aboard the company, this including Maria del Rosario, Raul and Rogelio Jr. with their respective families.
The large growth in sales for Ferro Block motivated the Hinojosa family to expand their horizons and open a new location in San Antonio, Texas, which also houses a large showroom.
Ferro Block now has more than 30 years at the forefront of the flooring industry because of it’s excellent customer service and wide variety of Mexican tile and imports, with even more success in their future.
